Blue Rose: The AGE Roleplaying Game of Romantic Fantasy

Created by Nicole Lindroos of Green Ronin

Aldis, the Kingdom of the Blue Rose, shines as a new light following the dark age of the Sorcerer Kings. Now, envoys of the Sovereign’s Finest strive to protect Aldis from threats like the dark Kingdom of Kern and the fanatical Theocracy of Jarzon, as well as monsters and corrupt magic left over from the Shadow Wars of the Sorcerer Kings. Aided by the rhydan—their psychic animal allies—the champions of the Blue Rose guard the Light against the power of the Shadow. Uses the Adventure Game Engine, as seen in the Dragon Age and Fantasy AGE RPGs.

A Plug for Stephanie Law

Hello backers!

Chapters of the book are moving their way through editing which is an important but not exactly glamorous part of the process. Once we get things to layout I hope to have another preview to show off because I know Hal Mangold will be making the book look pretty.

Speaking of pretty, Stephanie Law, the artist responsible for the absolutely gorgeous cover art for the old and new editions of Blue Rose, is running a Kickstarter of her own right now. If you can't get enough of her beautiful art this is your chance to get a whole book dedicated to it. You can check it out at:

Breaking Silence

Hi all,

First off, thank you so much for hanging with me during the last few weeks without updates. Since our last update, Chris and I have been traveling to spread the good word about Green Ronin's games. This effort took us out of the office for 17 days in a 30 day period and had me scrambling to keep up on those days that I was actually in the office.

Most recently we were at the GAMA Trade Show, where we took the opportunity to talk up August's release of the game to our retail and distribution partners who have been eager to hear about the post-Kickstarter plans for Blue Rose (as well as the other scheduled releases for our other games). I had hoped to have an update ready to go for you all on Friday but I returned home with a case of food poisoning that laid me low until this morning. It was definitely NOT how I intended to spend my weekend.

Thankfully, progress on Blue Rose does not need me to be healthy because developers-extraordinaire Steve Kenson and Jack Norris have been diligently working on the manuscript throughout. At this point all the material for the stretch goals has been turned over, developed, approved, and the contributors have been paid for their parts. The lovely and talented Lynne Hardy has been working away on the editing, which proceeds apace, and we should have a final cover treatment to show off shortly as Hal has received the final (or near-final) artwork from Stephanie Law.

Had I been a little less confined to bed and a little more on the ball, I would have gotten you all access to this update from Steve about the experience of converting the setting from the True20 system to the AGE system before it appeared as today's Ronin Round Table. If you haven't seen it already on the Green Ronin website, you can read the whole thing here.I am still investigating shipping options to get the best possible rates for our worldwide supporters. At the end of January we gave a new fulfillment company a test run with another one of our products to good results and I'm going to be asking them for a shipping quote for this Kickstarter. It seems promising but as ever, the devil is in the detail. Once we have our best shipping options locked in, I'll be able to commit the details to our post-campaign pledge manager (we're also still being courted by third-party pledge managers who would like our business but I felt, and still feel, that without our shipping options firmly in place, selecting our pledge manager details would be putting the cart before the horse).

I hope that catches us up for the moment! I should have some further previews of the work to share again soon, though. And, as always, thanks for your continuing support!

The Blue Rose Kickstarter is over!
over 8 years ago – Mon, Aug 10, 2015 at 05:50:42 AM

Well folks, we did it!

1,513 backers and $85,850 pledged of $10,000 goal. I can't even fully express our thanks to everyone who contributed to this project to help make it so fantastic. Your support means the world and we're excited to be able to bring Blue Rose back with so many extra perks and so much expanded content.

We will keep you posted on the game development in the year ahead. For now, our gaze turns to prepping for GenCon and getting through the rest of convention season on the heels of all this excitement.

Thank you once again,

Nicole

New Stretch Goals for the Final 12 Hours!
almost 9 years ago – Wed, Jul 22, 2015 at 08:22:34 PM

We've got 12 hours left on the Blue Rose Kickstarter! Having blown past $70,000 over the weekend, we've decided to include three new stretch goals between that and $90,000. Here's what we've added:

$78,000: We will add a 16 page booklet to the GM Screen with pre-generated characters you can use to get a game going in a snap.

$82,500: We will make the poster map double sided. One side will feature a map of the World of Aldea and the other a detailed map of the Kingdom of Aldis.

$86,500: We will increase the GM Screen booklet to 32 pages and add a new adventure to it. If we reach this goal, we'll also give a PDF of the booklet and screen to backers at the Aldin Guard tier and above.

Then at the top end we've still got John Snead's The Steam Age at $90,000 and the Fate Blue Rose Companion at $100,000.

One last push. For Aldis and the Queen!

GM Screen Booklet Unlocked!
almost 9 years ago – Wed, Jul 22, 2015 at 08:22:32 PM

We've made it past $78,000, which unlocked one of our new stretch goals! The GM Screen will now include a 16 page booklet with pre-generated characters. If you haven't yet added a GM Screen, it's easy. Just increase your pledge by $15.

Our next stretch goal is to make the poster map doubled sided. One side will feature the World of Aldea and the other a detailed map of the Kingdom of Aldis. That unlocks at $82,500!

9 hours left! Thanks for your support and for helping us get the word out.
